summer scent

it was freezing cold especially in the morning and night, thanks to the rain. that was the exact weather i remembered the last time i was in korea. absolutely breathtaking and i never imagine i will chance into this. sipping tea from a glass restaurants, on top of a hill overlooking such a view. i cannot stop thinking of the scenery in the korean drama summer scent. plus the glass house reminded me of my dream house. with such combination... what can i say, i wish i have someone to keep me warm. i wish i can wake up every morning and see this site from my balcony.

this heavenly place is where i spent my weekend. no not another trip to korea, though it feels almost foreign. though me myself dont really feel like i was in malaysia, it is indeed here in cameron.

the land flowing with strawberries. so i had strawberry strudel, strawberry with ice cream, strawberry crepe, strawberry for lunch and supper. sorry i couldnt bring them back, they didnt survive the weather.

to end the freaking cold night with hot steamboat is just perfect.

it was a good time with my family.

---
ps: im not the only one comparing summer scent and cameron highlands, check this out. so wei min, i guess i found you your location set for the making-of-your-first-korean-drama.

totally unrelated but yah if ur free. i can never forget this dancing scene from summer scent.

faith of a child

every night samuel and sara will follow their mum to pray this prayer:
"i pray for daddy, mummy, samuel and sara. in jesus name. amen"

one brilliant night, sara added:
"i pray for daddy, mummy, samuel and sara... and baby oranges (she meant the small mandarin oranges she discovered during CNY). in jesus name. amen"

so samuel was inspired, he also added:
"i pray for daddy, mummy, samuel and sara... and cucumber and carrot. in jesus name. amen"

---
the next morning, her grandma bought a box of baby oranges to their place without the knowledge of their prayers. apparently it is one of carrefour discounted item.

three lessons from prayers of the two-year-old:
1. you do not need to teach a child to ask, we are born self centred
2. prayer of a child can move mountains
3. some prayers are not answered because we do not know what we ask for. for eg: samuel came to my place for lunch, we gave him carrot and he doesnt want it. it was in his prayer prolly because it was the few name of food he knows.

my girl is back

my cutie girl is back.

her parents have very small eyes, looking at their photos she thought smiling-till-you-cant-see-your-eyes is the way to go. reminds me of dejelly

so happen, my boy is staying over at my place for the weekend. so i arranged a play date. they started with a shy "hi" and ended with a big hug. oh yahh plus the unending names calling session "bye, char-lotte", "bye, sam-uel", "bye-bye, char-lotte"...

no sara didnt draw that, my sis draw this and she is 15. that is a dog, not a cat. the green thing is not an aeroplane, that is her signature.

very good attempt for a new photoshop user. she colours my day.

twins two

samuel

and

sara

are two years old

---
top 5 cutest moment
1. DELIGHTFUL MOMENT: TWINKLE THE STAR

came into my room, closed the door. pointed to my ceiling... "ssstaarrr". "you want to see stars?" she nodded her head, climbed to my bed and laid down to enjoy. it seems like she know i will off the light and make sure those stars glow for her. demanding.

2. THE 'WOW' MOMENT: THE SKY
their maid left, so her mum had not been bringing them out for a while. as they stepped out of the car for dinner that day, they both went "wwaaaaahhhHHH". as if that was the first time they see the sky. or probably they were just trying to proof a point.

3. FREAK OUT MOMENT: TOMY THE TOY

she kept pressing the head as tomy nodded. that is like one of her favourite toy in my room. my dad looked at her and suddenly decided to say "DON'T touch my head". for the next 10 minutes she kept her hands to herself. it is not a surprise she is scared of my dad, most kids are. she is totally cute when she slowly touches tomy's hand after my dad says "can touch only the hand". my dad is almost evil, freaking that poor kid off for his amusement.

4. EXCITED MOMENT: THE CANDLE
we went for buffet in shogun. she got a bit bored sitting for so long, so i carried her around and showed her those colourful sushi. she suddenly got excited and kept pointing she wanted something. i was clueless for a while till i walked closer to those deco candles. she blew it off. then i learned that she had been practicing that as her preparation for her upcoming birthday party.

5. MANLINESS MOMENT: THE KNIFE
we celebrated their birthday last weekend. obviously there is only one birthday cake and two candles. so sara blew one and we all clapped our hands. then another boy excitedly blew the second candle eventhough it wasnt his cake. i was a bit upset samuel couldnt show off his new skill. then we taught both of them to hold the cake's knife to pose for a photo. samuel grabbed the knife from his sister's hand and make a cut in the centre of the cake. that got a very big applaud from everyone because for that moment he just seem so man. i swear he didnt rehearse that. he just need to prove us he can do more than blow a candle i guess :)

think. family

"mum, from now on we will only speak to you in english so that you can improve your english"
i can only remember the days when she sat us down and teach us our ABC and 123. they do not have the privilege and luxury to further their education like us. they were determine to make sure we get the education that is necessary and now we are so good that we feel embarrassed that our parents cannot communicate properly in english. shame on us.

"all my parents do is give us money, they do not know how to love us without money"
those were the days i dont even see my dad at home and it is not because he is working, he was just missing in action. but here he is giving his time to bring us for holiday and sumptuous dinner. buying car, hp, clothes, laptop and that is what we say. if we are that great, dont use a penny of theirs. if we want to talk about love and not money, prove to them all we want is love and not money. shame on us.

"why are you always comparing us to other kids, why must we get first in class? why dont u praise us for things we did well in. like other parents, they search for college for their kids and be there for them."
to hear even that lie is already funny. there we are comparing our parents with other parents and we are telling them not to compare us with other children. those were the days we want to do well to impress our parents and maybe just a self satisfaction that we can do well. but kids nowadays, they take it as if it is a they are doing their parents a favour to do well. reward from their parents doesnt sounds like an motivation, to them it is a pressure. seriously i dont know how to be parents too. shame on us.

---
seriously im very happy with my parents. no im not saying they are perfect, they are a lot of better ideal parents around. but im very proud of them. through the years, i had seen them become better parents, but it seems to me expectations of kids nowadays are growing in great measure. so forgive me if i get a little upset seeing kids lecturing how their parents to be parents. it is just disturbing. let them be them, give them a break if they just want to watch chinese series. for goodness sake dont force them to read newspaper.

inspired by this entry.

a family weekend

i was planning a beach getaway for a while now but had not come to it. then out of the blue my dad booked a family rejuvenating spa package over the weekend to damai laut, it is somewhere near pangkor (in case you dont know where that is).

after lunch facing the beach at the resort, we hit of to pangkor island.

my family

my little sis and me, try to keep that cool look despite the wind and wave.

my youngest sis is currently my most trusted photograher in the family

our first stop, to a nearby village to get some salted fish and tit bits

without further adieu, we hit the beach...

... to fulfill my dying desire to get some tan

but im too shy to post my frontal photos, you can have my back :)

then i need to do some beach-y thing, walk by the beach...

... and take some photos

leng and i made some effort to walk all the way to this hotel to revisit our "surf camp" youth camp site. the place that linked me up to yong howe, ps lawrence and ps seng lee, whom i believe significantly cause my moved to singapore and hook up with the the current fcbc bunch

we indulge ourself with a full body massage, i refuse to go until i make sure we have a 4-1 victory.

the next morning, we went to the poolside and make another attempt to get ourselves a better tan before we hit off to ipoh to get this famous... yim kok kai (salted chicken)

no kidding, we need to wait 40 minutes for it. cars just parked there to wait and nobody complain even a bit.

the boxes stacked all up and i seriously think they make good money. my family alone bought 7 boxes, in an hour i estimate they sell about 60 chickens (not forgetting, i dunno where the full van loads goes to. darn... im sure they make good money

my personal favourites, i think the resorts view are really great especially during sunset.

2. watching 'miss austen regrets'

"There are such beings in the World, perhaps, one in a Thousand, as the Creature You & I should think perfection, where Grace & Spirit are united to Worth, where the Manners are equal to the Heart & Understanding, but such a person may not come in your way, or if he does, he may not be the eldest son of a Man of Fortune, the Brother of your particular friend, & belonging to your own County."
jane austen

amanda: this is so sad isn't it. hopefully this does not happen to any of us
cy: God forbid... gosh this movie is so demoralising

3. playing 'catch phrase'

4. watching 'deal or no deal'

5. revisiting our childhood photos and stories

we really had a blast. this explains why i never touch any of my work when i was there. this was the home i grow up in. laughters was our way of life.
